The shortage of childcare across our state, including in Callaway, has been making headlines for months now. Callaway Public School Superintendent Bryon Hanson went so far as to call it a “crisis” during a recent school board meeting where discussion was held on expanding the school’s existing preschool program in an effort to help alleviate the problem.

One of the area highlights of the summer is on tap for this weekend, as the smell of smokers and BBQ will once again fill the air in Oconto, beckoning hundreds of people to wet their taste buds. The famous Oconto Blowin' The Doors Off BBQ is Saturday, June 3.
Honoring Years of Service, And Saying Farewell to Keeney

Last week we paid tribute to Wendy Dockweiler for serving as a teacher in the Callaway school district for 30 years. This week we feature Jarod Rush and Bob Keeney, both of whom have also taught here for 30 years and for Bob, this was his last. Next week we will feature fellow retiree Suzanne Wendorff.
Yard Of The Month Contest Begins In June

Spring is here, and as the trees and grass turn green and flowers begin to bloom, outdoor green thumbs are back in their happy place! Beginning in June nominations will be taken for the “Best Yard of the Month” contest, which will run through September. You can email, send messages through Facebook or stop by First Interstate Bank to let the Chamber know your yard nomination each month. The winner of each “Best Yard of the Month” will receive $25 in Chamber bucks.
