In 1979, Mother’s Day was on May 13. I know this because that is the day my first child and only daughter was born. I have told her many times over the years that she is by far the best Mother’s Day gift I have ever or could ever receive.

We have hummingbirds in our area. I’ve seen them in my yard, in Jenny Raymond’s yard, and I’ve had reports of them from other locations here in town and a pair from south of town that had a nest with eggs.
The wedding ceremony came to the point where the minister asked if anyone had anything to say concerning the union of the bride and groom. The moment of utter silence was broken when a beautiful young woman carrying a child stood up.
