South Loup Bobcats District Runner-Up

The South Loup Bobcats boys’ track team went into the C-8 District Track and Field Championships on May 12 with a mission, and got right down to work in the field events. The Bobcats started the scoring out with Silas Cool taking third and Jamie Tickle fifth in the pole vault.

Lady Bobcats Win Blevins Invitational

The Lady Bobcats continued their dominance on May 6 as they won the Dave Blevins Invitational at the Arnold High School track. Coach Weverka's throwers scored very well and were highlighted by the school record performance of Abby Stallbaumer, tossing the discus 133 feet, 4 inches to break the record previously held by Jessi Sallach. Also placing in the discus were Mya Weverka in fourth, and Riata Remund in sixth.

South Loup Girls Amongst Best in the Midwest

The Lady Bobcats took 12 girls to the Best in the Midwest track meet in Sutherland on May 3 and were led by Abby Stallbaumer who won the gold medal in the discus and Tallianna Martin who took silver in the 1600 meters.

Bobcats Take Runner-Up Honors at Blevins Invitational

The South Loup boys scored well in the field events to begin the May 6 Blevins Invitational at Arnold, with pole vaulters Silas Cool, Jamie Tickle and Dawson Mason, taking gold, bronze and fourth place to score 20 points. Rio Remund and Lance Jones took third and fourth in the shot put and Jones took fourth in the discus. The boys ended the field events portion with 34 points.

Bobcat Thinclads at The Best in the Midwest Meet

Five Bobcats Thinclads participated at the Best of the Midwest on May 3 at Sutherland High School. The meet allows each of the top eight entered in an event to participate. This year 26 teams sent athletes to the meet.

CHAMPIONS: South Loup Track Teams Win The Day

For Bobcats coach Rick Peterson, there was little doubt the Bobcats would repeat the conference track championship they’ve held since 2018. “I realized with the quality of athletes that the boys had that it was possible, but lower numbers from past years made me question if there were enough bodies to score in the 17 events that make up the conference meet,” Peterson said.

Lady Bobcats Cruise to 4th MNAC Title

It would have appeared earlier this year that Coach Weverka's Lady Cats were a sure thing for a four-peat for the conference championship but things can change unexpectedly. With throwing standout Abby Stallbaumer out for a prior commitment, and Mya Weverka out sick the Lady Bobcats fell short about 30 points.

Bobcats Second at MNAC Golf

After a season of battling every element possible, the Bobcats were granted a brilliant day on April 28 to host the MNAC Golf Championships at the Arnold Golf Course. “We had a perfect day of weather,” head coach Jarod Rush said.
