On Aug. 10 more than 140 high performance cars converged on Arnold for the 22nd Annual Sandhills Open Road Challenge. The event began on Aug. 11 with the 22-mile Loup 2 Loup Open Road Race between Halsey and Purdum. Friday the 12th started off with the One Mile Shootout held 14 miles north of Cozad, followed by a luncheon and car show at the Callaway Community Center. The lunch is hosted by the Callaway Chamber of Commerce.

The drivers then made their way across the hills for an afternoon car show in downtown Arnold. Cars and drivers lined up in Arnold on Saturday for an 8:30 a.m. start of the 56-mile open road race between Arnold and Dunning.

The event culminated Saturday evening with a free will donation barbeque and award ceremony in the Arnold Community Park.
