It was a rough night for the South Loup football team last Friday, as they traveled to Bertrand. Though the teams entered the contest with identical 4-2 records on the season, everything went the Vikings’ way in this one. Bertrand easily came away with the W by a final of 53-6.

Quarterback Tysen Schacher scored the Bobcats’ only points of the night when he was able to carry the ball across the goal line. Schacher finished the game with 65 yards on 29 carries. Jett Morgan added 73 yards on 15 carries, while Elijah Cool carried the ball 6 times for 54 yards. Dawson Downing added another 30 rushing yards on 5 carries.

The South Loup passing game was basically shut down by the Vikings' defense, as Schacher only attempted 3 passes and completed 1 for 15 yards to Callan Witthuhn. Bertrand put a lot of pressure on Schacher all night, forcing 4 fumbles from the QB.

Schacher also led the defense with 3 solo tackles and 4 assists. Witthuhn also had 3 solo tackles in the game and 2 assists. Remi Flynn finished the night with 6 assisted tackles, and Cruz Mason added 4 tackles to the stats. Downing came up with a fumble recovery for the Bobcats.

This week, the Bobcats will be back on their home field in Arnold as they host the 7-0 Loomis Wolves.

Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
