It was a disappointing Homecoming for the South Loup Bobcats as they took the field in an afternoon game against Arapahoe on Friday, Oct. 2.

The Warriors had a massive first quarter in the 2:30 p.m. game, putting up 32 points in the opening eight minutes and creating too much of a gap for the Bobcats to overcome. Arapahoe added another 6 in the second quarter, while the Warrior defense did not allow South Loup any points in the contest. The final score was 38-0.

Junior quarterback Tysen Schacher was 2 for 5 for 90 passing yards, and rushed for 77 yards on 26 carries. Elijah Cool had 9 carries for the Bobcats, picking up 52 yards, and had a 55-yard pass reception. Unfortunately, however, none of that resulted in points on the board.

Jett Morgan was on the receiving end of the only other completed Schacher pass good for 35 yards.

Defensively for the Bobcats, freshman Cruz Mason led the team in total tackles with 10, including one for loss. Noah Anderson and T. Schacher each finished the game with 8 tackles; Morgan had 6, while Cool, Remi Flynn, and Malachi Neth each contributed 5 tackles.

It was only the second loss of the season for the Bobcats. This week, they will travel to Bertrand on Friday, Oct. 9, for a matchup with a team that comes in with an identical record of 4-2. On paper the teams appear very evenly matched, but coming off a tough Homecoming loss may have given South Loup something to prove. Kickoff in Bertrand is set for 7 p.m.
