The History Behind Our Loveable Feline Friends

Body
Cats! This morning I awoke to find three cats sleeping on me. One was across my feet, one between my legs, and our 18-year-old Tom next to my chest and face. Cindy, on the other hand, was sleeping cat-free. Usually, the old Tom sleeps on her, but not last night. I couldn’t help but think, “Why me?”

POPPY DAY

Body
National Poppy Day is observed on the Friday preceding Memorial Day. On Sept 27, 1920, the red poppy became the official flower of Legion Family. Poppies represent the blood shed during wartimes and the servicemen who have died in battle while serving our country. Red crepe paper poppies are made by Veterans and other volunteers and all donations received are used for various Veteran programs. The poppies are distributed by Legion Auxiliary members to those desiring to give a donation. Several Junior Auxiliary members of Unit #59 helped with Poppy Day held in Callaway on May 24.
