Callaway Senior Center Needs Your Help

Body
Most of the people in our community know the story of a group of seniors in the 90s who worked together to build a senior center and named it the Seven Valleys Senior Center. We are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, which provides tax exempt donations, with the stated purpose of education.
Various events and activities are held at the Seven Valleys Senior Center, as well as a monthly potluck. It is a gathering hub for the community. Rising costs - including insurance which went up $1,100 this year for the center - are making it more difficult to keep things going. Your help is needed. (Courier file photo by Ellen Mortensen)

Where Black Squirrels Come From

Body
A few years ago, I was sitting on the campus of Wesleyan University in Lincoln enjoying myself while I watched two black squirrels being…well, squirrelly. It was my first time seeing black squirrels. I’ve seen them in Lincoln a few times since but my most recent sighting was right here in Gothenburg. I was driving down Avenue D and there were two black squirrels…again, being squirrelly. What are they doing here?
