The Callaway Chamber is busy preparing for a couple of upcoming events that will bring hundreds of people to the community of Callaway - and they need your help. BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) will be coming in with 350+ bikers on Tuesday, June 7, and the Chamber is still looking for more volunteers to greet and meet them as they come into Callaway.

The April meeting for the Tail Twisters 4-H club was called to order at 7:03 p.m. on Sunday, April 24, 2022. Roll call was taken to determine who attended the meeting. The treasurer’s report was read.

The Callaway elementary students had their track and field day on Friday, May 13 and the weather could not have been more perfect. They tested their horizontal leaping skills in the long jump, practiced coordination in the fireman’s run and the sack race and demonstrated teamwork in the running relays. One of the highlights of the day was watching a group of 4th grade boys wait at the start line to give a classmate a head start, then intentionally stay right behind her encouraging her all the way to the finish line. Don’t simply follow the person in front of you - forge your own path in life. This was just one of many nuggets of sage advice given to the graduating class of 2022 at Callaway Public Schools on Sunday, May 15 as 18 students received their diplomas and turned to a new chapter in their lives.

It was a busy day across Nebraska, and a stressful day for many, as the public and candidates for office anxiously awaiting results of the Primary Election on Tuesday. No matter what side of the aisle you’re on, the one thing we can undoubtedly all agree on is the joy of seeing the inundation of Nebraska gubernatorial political ads finally come to an end! The race for governor has been hotly contested among the Republican party for the past several months.

The Legion Auxiliary meeting was held at the American Legion Hall on April 18, 2022, at 6:30. We opened in normal procedure with the prayer by Joyce Brestel, Star Spangled Banner, Pledge of Allegiance and our Auxiliary Preamble, all led by Deondra Lashley. We read the minutes of the last meeting. MaryAnn read the Treasurers report and everything stands approved.

The Callaway Community Foundation presented a grant for $6,000 to the weight room at the school for updating and new equipment. The Callaway Community Foundation presented a grant of $3,000 to the music department at the school for a new (used) tuba.
