South Loup Ladies Go 1-1 At Holiday Tournament
The Lady Bobcats closed out 2023 with a win, as they competed in a holiday tournament in Maxwell on Dec. 18 and 19. After suffering a hard-fought loss to Maxwell in their opening game of the tourney, the Lady Bobcats clawed their way back for their second game.
South Loup scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday, Dec. 19. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Sandhills Valley (Stapleton) 51-16 at the Maxwell tournament. The victory was a breath of fresh air for South Loup as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.
The Lady Bobcats were led to victory by Josie Reiff and Bryn Schwarz. Reiff scored 14 points along with 6 steals, while Schwarz dropped a double-double on 18 points and 11 steals. That makes it eight consecutive games in which Schwarz has scored at least 25% of South Loup's points.
South Loup's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-5. As for Sandhills Valley, they bumped their record down to 0-9 with that loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.
The Lady Bobcats are enjoying a lengthy rest, and will face off with Hershey next on Jan. 2. Hershey and South Loup are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-toheads. Tip-off for that game is set for 6 p.m. in Callaway.
