Recoy Wins Conference Gold At MNAC Cross Country

Having the home course advantage helped the Bobcat cross country team bring home a bunch of medals at last week’s Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference (MNAC) cross country meet.
Senior Logan Recoy brought home the gold for the boys, Recoy also placed first last year in the MNAC meet. He beat his time from last year by more than 10 seconds, to finish in 17:37.59. Recoy also set a new personal record with his time.
Josiah Coleman finished in 4th place with a time of 19:06.53. This was a season-best for him and a nearly 30-second improvement from last year’s time.
Freshman Walter Bierman finished in 8th place with a time of 21:16.50, setting a new personal best for himself. Caleb McFate finished in 10th place at 21:29.46, also giving himself a new season-best record. His finish was also more than a minute better than last year on this course.
Eli Rogers came in 13th place with a time of 25:05.87 and a new season-best time. And Caden Pandorf finished in 14th place with a time of 27:36.84.
The three girls running for South Loup also had a successful day. Junior Ivy Tullis placed 3rd with a time of 22:23.70 and set a new season-best record for herself. Ella Cool placed 7th with a time of 23:05.03. Senior Gracie Neth set a new personal record for herself with a 12th place finish and a time of 29:06.94. She also shaved nearly three minutes off her time from last year on this course.
The Bobcats head to Cross Creek Golf Course in Cambridge on Thursday for the D5 District meet to determine which runners will compete at the NSAA state meet in Kearney on Oct. 20. The top 15 runners and top 3 teams from each district will advance to the state meet. Districts will begin at 2 p.m.
