The Lady Bobcats took a hard 43-29 fall against Hershey on Tuesday, Jan. 2, in their first game since Dec. 19. South Loup lost against Hershey in their previous head-tohead back in January of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 56-32 score last time.

Despite the final result, Bryn Schwarz dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. Schwarz scored a full 51.7% of South Loup's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Along with leading the team in scoring, Schwarz also had 12 rebounds, 5 assists, and 5 steals in the game.

The Lady Bobcats were back on the court on Jan. 4, when they traveled to Sandhills- Thedford. Schwarz tallied 17 points in the effort, as South Loup came up short 30-67. Fellow senior Josie Reiff added 8 points and 6 rebounds.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, South Loup traveled to Bertrand where they were the 47-34 winner over the Vikings when they last played one another back in January of 2023. But their luck changed this time around, as they lost the hard-fought contest 29-24.

Despite the loss, the Lady Bobcats got another impressive performance from Schwarz, who once again dropped a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds.

South Loup was slow getting started, scoring only 1 point in the first quarter and 3 in the second to trail 4-20 at the half. They began to find their stride though in the second half, both offensively and defensively. After an 12 point second quarter, the Bobcats held the Vikings to just 5 points in the third while adding 3 points to their side of the board.

The Bobcats heated up in the fourth, scoring 17 points - more than double their score in the first three periods - while holding Bertrand to just 4 points. Unfortunately, the deficit that had been created in the first three quarters was just a little too much to overcome.

South Loup's road trip will continue as they head out to face Maxwell at 6 p.m. on Jan. 12. The Lady Bobcats will then head to Brady on Jan. 13 for a 4 p.m. game.
