The South Loup girls basketball team (1-4) lost a close game against Medicine Valley on the road Friday, losing by a mere 5 points.

After a strange week filled with bad weather, illness and a canceled game against SEM, the Lady Bobcats fought hard each quarter to come up a tad short, 33-38. By the end of the first quarter, the score was 12-16. At the end of the half, the gap had widened to 18-26. The second half the Bobcat defense turned up the heat and only allowed the Raiders to score 6 points in the third and 6 points in the fourth.

Senior Ava Pandorf scored first with an early 3-pointer and kept it up, scoring 13 points, followed by Bryn Schwarz with 10 points, and Lauryn Johnson with 5 points.

The Lady Bobcats started the Christmas week off with the Maxwell Holiday Tournament on Monday against Sandhills Valley. The scores for that game were not available by press time.
