The South Loup Bobcats hosted the Mid Nebraska Athletic Conference (MNAC) track and field championship on Friday, May 1, and what a day it was! The South Loup women’s team finished as Conference Champions, with the men ending the meet as Conference Runner-up.

The ladies finished with a combined total of 129 team points, with Mullen finishing second with

111, and Brady third with 106. While the conference championship was certainly a team effort, part of that momentum came from senior Erin Fitzgerald who finished the day with three gold medals and a silver.

The men’s team accumulated 102 points to land behind conference champs Anselmo-Merna with 127.

Twin Loup came in third with 80 points. As has been the case all season, it was the distance runners who set the pace for the Bobcats with three gold medals.

The Best of the Midwest meet on Tuesday, May 5 was cancelled due to weather. The team will be back on the track on Friday, May 8, in Arnold for the Dave Blevins Memorial Invite.
