The Lady Bobcats volleyball team (4-7) was looking for a chance to avenge a home loss from two weeks ago when they hosted the Sandhills-Thedford Knights in Arnold on Friday. Despite winning the first set, the Knights controlled the next three sets to deal the Lady Bobcats another home loss, 3-1.
The first set was a close, but well-played match. The Lady Bobcats came out on top 25-22. But the stronger Knights team capitalized on errors by the Lady Bobcats to win the second set 12-25.
After regrouping and refocusing, the Lady Bobcats looked much stronger and focused during the third set, but dropped it 19-25. The final set was a runaway by the Knights, taking the win 13-25.
Individual stats were not available by press time for this game.
The Lady Bobcats traveled to Brady last Tuesday for a triangular against the Eagles and the Bertrand Vikings. It took three close sets for the Lady Bobcats to overcome the Vikings, but they found their groove and played smart to get the win. The Bobcats and the Vikings traded points back and forth for the first half of the first set, but then the Vikings took a 16-21 lead and the Bobcats tried to catch up, but weren’t quick enough and dropped the first one 22-25.
The second set was also an exchange of points back and forth up to the end, but the Lady Bobcats finally stomped the Vikings 25-22. There were plenty of long volleys back and forth with the Lady Bobcats showing their strength at the net and their ability to get the ball right where they wanted it.
The third set was a nail-biter as the score was back and forth between the two teams the entire time. But a well-placed serve and great defense at the net gave the Lady Bobcats the chance to score match point and win 26-24.
Charli Vickers had 21 kills, 5 serving aces, and 6 blocks for the game. Josie Reiff had 27 digs in the back row and 2 serving aces. Bryn Schwarz had 21 digs, 18 assists, and 8 kills. Greeley Hrupek had 21 digs and 8 assists.
The Lady Bobcats dropped the second game 0-2 against Brady, as the errors began to pile up from the tired Lady Bobcats.
The first set was a runaway by the Eagles, with a final score of 15-25. The Lady Bobcats played better in the second set, but despite trying to keep up with the young Eagles team, they fell 23-25.
The Lady Bobcats had 15 hitting errors and 24 digging errors that hurt them considerably. The errors came at times when scoring was vital, and contributed to their loss.
Vickers had 6 kills and 3 blocks; Schwarz had 5 kills and 7 assists; Delaney Rogers had 3 blocks. Grace Bierman had 14 digs; Hrupek had 17 digs.
