The South Loup cross country team traveled to Cambridge on Thursday, Oct. 12, to compete in the District D-5 meet. The district meet determines state qualifiers and South Loup came home with four.

For the girls, Ella Cool ran the race of her career at the district meet. The junior outran her closest competitor by 8 seconds to take the district gold with a time of 21:37.71. Fellow junior Ivy Tullis finished the race in 14th place with a time of 23:10.34. Both will move on to the state meet tomorrow, Oct. 20, in Kearney.

Senior Gracie Neth also competed for the ladies at the district meet, finishing in 45th place with a time of 28:56.14.

On the boys' side, senior Logan Recoy led the Bobcats with a third-place finish in the district competition. Recoy narrowly missed his record-setting time at the conference meet two weeks ago, with a time at districts of 17:39.00. The top two on the boys' side were Keyton Cole of Axtell and Marcus Hernandez of Bertrand.

Sophomore Josiah Coleman finished in 15th for the Bobcats with a time of 18:46.00. Both Recoy and Coleman qualified for the state meet tomorrow.
