Final Week of Golf Season, Bobcats Prepare For Districts
The South Loup boys' golf team traveled to Thedford on Wednesday, May 7, to compete in the Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference (MNAC) golf meet. Two of the Bobcats earned conference medals, with Harper Johnson finishing 4th overall with an 85, and Bo Brennan was 7th with a 95. No other results from that meet were available.
The next day the team was back on the road to North Platte for a tournament hosted by St. Pat's. A total of 17 teams competed in the large meet, with North Platte Blue, St. Pat's, and Hersey taking the top three spots in the team standings.
Top golfer of the day was Micah Gerlach of Cambridge, who shot a 74.
Haydn Stretesky was the top golfer for the Bobcats, shooting a 44 on both the front and back nine to finish with 88 - just three strokes out of top 10 placement. Harper Johnson shot a 54 on the front and 43 on the back to finish with 97, while Jamie Tickle shot 54 and 48 for a 102 total. Crew Witthuhn was consistent with 50 on the front and 51 on the back for 110, and Bo Brennan finished out the team, shooting a 56 on both front and back for a 112.
The Bobcats were back on the course on Wednesday, May 14, for their final regular season meet. We will have those results next week.
They will compete in the district meet at Ainsworth on Monday, May 19, and Tuesday, May 20. Tee off is set for 9 a.m. both days.
