Cross Country Runners Take on Tough Field in Cozad

The South Loup cross country team traveled to Cozad on Thursday, Sept. 4, to compete in the Cozad Invitational. Though the temperatures were cooler than the team experienced in their first outing of the season, the Bobcat athletes ran well and earned several medals.

Freshman Lyla Bierman led the girls’ team, finishing in 15th place overall with a time of 27:12. Chenney Dishman ran a time of 27:58, and Kaygan Witthuhn finished with 28:50.

For the boys’ team Jaden Baker and Josiah Coleman paced one another, as Baker came in 13th in a time of 18:50, and Coleman 14th with 18:54. Not far behind them was teammate Walter Bierman in 17th place with a time of 19:15. Rounding out the team was Eli Rogers who finished in 22:03.

Holdrege easily won the boys team championship, while Broken Bow was the easy team winner on the girls side.

The Bobcats travel to Broken Bow for their next meet on Saturday, Sept. 13.
