The South Loup boys’ and girls’ track teams competed in the Arcadia-Loup City Rebel Invite in Loup City on Thursday, March 27. The Bobcats faced challenging competition from some much larger schools, including Ord, St. Paul, Ravenna, and Grand Island Central Catholic. Even so, both teams earned several medals and turned in some impressive performances.

For the boys, the relay teams had an outstanding day with the 4x100m team winning the silver medal and the 4x800m team earning the bronze. The men’s field events were led by Ethan Furne who leaped for a silver medal in the long jump.

The women’s relay teams also did well, but it was the distance events that were the Lady Bobcats’ strong suit. Senior Ella Cool ran for the gold medal in the 1600m while sophomore Jade Bierman picked up the silver medal in the 800m. Both the 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay teams finished in 4th place.

The teams were back on the track on Tuesday in Elwood; however, those results were not available at press time and will be featured in the April 10 Courier. The Bobcats will next compete on Friday, April 11, at Arnold with events beginning at 10 a.m.
