Bobcats Win First Game in Arnold
On Thursday, Jan. 9, the South Loup Bobcat boys had a fast-paced game against the Sandhills-Thedford Knights. The game started strong with the Bobcats scoring 15 points in the first quarter. This included a 3-point play where senior AJ Starr saved the ball from going out of bounds to pass it into Crew Witthuhn who went up for 2 and drew a foul, earning him another point.
The Bobcats pushed to bring the score to 29-25 at the half with the Bobcats up. The boys grew their lead in the second half with a powerful defense.
While the Bobcats scored 7 points in the last quarter, the Knights didn’t score. This scoring run resulted in the Bobcats coming out with a 47-32 win.
“This was a great first Arnold home game,” said Starr. “It was tough but fun, and coming out with the win was great going into the conference tournament soon.”
Witthuhn had a very impressive game, scoring 22 points and pulling down 15 rebounds. Connor Paulsen also scored in double digits with 12.
