The South Loup cross country team traveled to Broken Bow on Saturday, Sept. 13, where they competed at the Broken Bow Invitational. The tough field of runners consisted primarily of Class C schools, but the Bobcats held their own.

Junior Walter Bierman had a personal best time at the meet of 18:58.68 to earn the 15th place medal overall. His teammate, senior Josiah Coleman, was right behind him in 16th place with a time of 19:03.32.

Sophomore Jade Baker came in 18th with a time of 19:13.98. Eli Rogers finished with a time of 22:38.85.

It was a great showing for the Bobcats in a field of 103 runners. South Loup finished in 5th place overall in the team standings, ahead of Broken Bow, McCook, and Ainsworth among others in the 12-team invitational.

Only Kaygan Witthuhn competed for the South Loup girls at Broken Bow, turning in a time of 28:55.44.

The team is at Ravenna today, Sept. 18, after which they will have a long break before their next competition on Sept. 29 at UNK.
