The South Loup Bobcat football team continues to steamroll its competition on the field, defeating the Mullen Broncos 64-14 on Friday, Oct. 7 in Mullen.

The Bobcat offense was on fire, tallying up 431 offensive yards, compared to the 131 yards by the Broncos. South Loup had double the first downs - 16 to 8, and had control of the ball almost twice the time of Mullen - 30 minutes compared to 18 minutes.

Mullen had first possession of the ball, but the Bobcats held them to a third down and a total of 9 yards, before a punt to the Bobcats 41-yard-line and a tag team of AJ Starr and Trey Connell got the ball into the endzone for the first strike of the night.

The two-point conversion by Conner Paulsen was good, and the score was 8-0 Bobcats.

The next play, the Bobcat defense held the Broncos to a mere 23 yards before Lance Jones got the stop, but the celebration was short-lived as the Broncos ran for a 71-yard touchdown. The score was now 8-6. Not to be kept down, the Bobcats strike again with a touchdown by Conner Paulsen and the two-point conversion by Connell and Cache Gracey puts the Bobcats up 16-8.

The Bobcats strike again in the first quarter with a touchdown run by Conner Paulsen to up the score to 22-6 Bobcats.

The second quarter was a slower start with the Bobcat offense taking their time to score, but with 3:23 left in the half, Connell ran in for another score, bringing the Bobcat lead 28-6. Connell finds Gracey one more time for another Bobcat touchdown and the two-point conversion was good. The Bobcats end the half in the lead 36-6.

Right out of the gate in the third quarter, the Bobcats scored another 8 points with a touchdown and twopoint conversion by Connell, upping the score to 44-6. Connell again found the endzone in the third quarter for another Bobcat touchdown and a wide lead 50-6.

The Broncos finally had possession of the ball long enough to score in the fourth quarter, but the Bobcats hit back twice more with touchdowns from Dylan Pandorf and a two-point conversion from Pandorf to Crew Witthuhn to end the game 64-14.

Connell added 168 rushing yards, to bring his season total to 958 rushing yards. Freshman Dylan Pandorf had a career-high 59 passing yards with Connell just behind at 48 passing yards.

On defense, Lance Jones had 9 tackles, followed by Harper Johnson and Connell with 5 each.
