The South Loup Bobcat football team (2-0) continues to dominate on the field with another double-digit win over the Maywood-Hayes Center Wolves last Friday, 5413.

The Bobcats ran the ball with ease against the Wolves, with sophomore Conner Paulsen scoring three touchdowns for 18 points, junior AJ Starr adding another touchdown for 6 more points, senior Trey Connell scored 4 points with two PATs, and Dylan Pandorf added 2 points with a PAT. By the end of the first quarter, the Bobcats were up 36-7.

The second quarter was time for the defense to shine, not allowing the Wolves to get into scoring position. The offense was anchored by Connell, putting another 6 on the board to send the Bobcats into the locker room with a commanding 42-7 lead.

Now that the Bobcats were up by more than 35 points, the clock was allowed to run continuously, making the game go by much faster, but still giving the Bobcats a shot to add more points on the board. Starr had a 56yard run for another touchdown, putting the Bobcats up 48-7 at the end of the third quarter.

The underclassmen got nearly a quarter of playing time during the fourth, giving them experience on the field and building confidence for later years. Pandorf found the end zone for another 6 points, making the final score 54-13.

Individual stats for this game were not available by press time.

Senior Trey Connell was impressed with his team and their effort.

“It was a good game from start to finish,” he said. “Defense showed out, the offense was incredibly efficient.”

The Bobcats travel to Trenton on Friday for a matchup against last year’s Class D2 state champions, the Hitchcock County Falcons. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
