Bobcats Finish Home Invite Runners-Up
The Bobcats hosted the Dave Blevins Memorial Invite in Arnold last Friday, May 8 and both the boys and girls had a banner day, taking home second place honors overall. The meet was their last regular season competition for 2026, and they faced a field of nine total teams, including Sandhills Valley, Sandhills/ Thedford, Arthur County, Overton, Mullen, Anselmo- Merna, Brady, and North Platte St. Pat’s.
Both the men’s and ladies’ teams landed in second- place overall for the day, collecting multiple individual medals as well. First place on both sides was claimed by North Platte St. Pat’s. NPSP racked up 163 points (boys) and 116 points (girls), while the Bobcats tallied 86 (boys) and 94 (girls) in their silver medal win.
The relay teams were on fire that day, with the men’s 4x400 and 4x800 finishing first. The ladies weren’t to be outdone, as their 4x400 and 4x800 also took the gold.
In the individual events, the men tallied a total of five bronze, one silver and one gold medal in their efforts. Tysen Schacher was responsible for the gold with a 12’ pole vault, while Paxton Bierman medaled third.
Walter Bierman finished third in the 800m, with Elijah Cool right behind him in fourth. Jaden Baker earned bronze in the 1600m, and Josiah Coleman did the same in the 3200m. Dylan Pandorf landed a personal- best of 20’ 6.75” to earn third place in long jump, while Hudson Vickers nabbed a silver in the high jump with a personal-best 6’ 2”.
The women’s team collected six bronze, two silver and one gold on the day as well. Lynae Wiese had a personal-best pole vault that earned her the top spot, and the silvers were awarded to EvaLynn Wonch in discus and Rae Hagler in the 300m hurdles.
Kamryn Kramer flew to third in the 100m hurdles, while the ladies’ 4x100m relay team consisting of Asa Starr, Erin Fitzgerald, Hagler and Jimi Fletcher also received a bronze medal.
The ladies’ found plenty of success in the field events as well, with Emma Stallbaumer placing third in shot put and discus, and Jade Bierman and Asa Starr tying for third in high jump. Fitzgerald also landed a 15’ 9.5” long jump to round out the collection of bronze medals for the day.
On Wednesday, the Bobcats took on the NSAA District D-8 competition at Paxton. Results from that meet will be featured in next week’s Courier, along with a list of state qualifiers. The NSAA State Track Meet will be held in Omaha on May 22-23.
