Bobcats Earn Team Championship
Cross country has the shortest season of any high school sport, which makes putting in the work during the off season so important. For the South Loup runners, that work seemed to pay off as they brought home lots of hardware from their season opening performance.
The Bobcats have only two girls on the team in 2024, and both ran well at the first meet of the season in Burwell on Thursday, Aug. 29. Ella Cool picked up the 2nd place medal, while Ivy Tullis finished 10th. Both girls are seniors.
The boys team also performed well at the Burwell meet, finishing the day on top of the team leader board to earn the team championship. Individual medalists were Josiah Coleman in 4th place, with Jaden Baker right behind him in 5th place. Dawson Mason finished in 9th place, and Walter Bierman picked up the 10th place medal.
It was cooler weather and a great first meet for Bobcat cross country,” said Coach Nicole Recoy.
The next meet for the Bobcat cross country team is Saturday, Sept. 7, when they travel to Cozad. Action will get underway at 9 a.m.
