Bobcats Continue Dominance On The Court
Just like the impending snow storm, the South Loup Bobcats boys basketball team walloped the Arcadia- Loup City Rebels at home last Tuesday, racking up points and winning 57-24.
In a repeat of the game against Brady the week previous, everyone on the bench had varsity playing time and nearly every player put points on the board.
The hurt for the Rebels started in the first quarter with the Bobcats putting up 26 points to their 6 points. While the starters rested, the bench hit the floor, adding another 9 points to end the first half with a score of 35-9. The Bobcats put up another 13 points in the third quarter while holding the Rebels to a mere 5 points. The final score was 57-24.
Cache Gracey was again the top scorer with 27 points, followed by Trey Connell with 7 points, and Harper Johnson, Lance Jones, and Dylan Pandorf with 5 points each. Connell picked up 10 rebounds, with Jones adding 5 more. The JV were dealt a loss in three quarters with a final score of 18-36. Sophomore AJ Starr scored 12 points, followed by Pandorf with 4 points, and Johnson with 2 points. Starr and Lance Wooters each picked up 5 rebounds.
Due to the snow storm, the game against Ansley-Litchfield was canceled and a makeup date has not yet been announced.
The Mid-Nebraska Activities Conference tournament kicked off on Monday and the top-ranked Bobcats hosted the second round of play at Arnold on Tuesday. As of press time, their opponent hadn’t been decided (the winner of Arthur County vs. Twin Loup on Monday). Depending upon the outcome of Tuesday night’s game, the Bobcats will either play in the consolation round on Friday or the championship round on Saturday at North Platte Community College.
