Bobcat Girls Win South Loup Invite, Boys Place Fourth

It was a banner day on April 11 for the Lady Bobcats at the South Loup Invitational as they dominated events across the board to win the team title.

Halie Recoy, Reagan Cool and the 4x400 team of Abby Stallbaumer, Mya Weverk Taylor Ross, Bryn Schwarz earned gold medals of the day. Another 11 personal record were set for the Lady Bobcats in various events, showing a trend of improvemen for the team as the season gets more and more competitive.

In the distance events, Tallianna Martin raced to a 5:53 finish for second in the 160 meters and Ella Cool took second in the 3200 with a time of 12:55. Charli Vicke hurdled her way to fifth place in both the 100 meter highs and the 300 meter low and leapt her way to third place in the high jump. The 4 x 800 meter relay team o Ivy Tullis, Heidi Donegan, Cool and Martin took silver with a time of 10:46.5.

The South Loup boys also had a tremendous day on their home track, taking third place in the team standings and also putting up some great marks. Cache Gracey ran like his hair was on fire, setting a new school record for the 400 meters with a time of 51.4 seconds and also won the 800 meters with a personal record of 2:06.8 while Silas Cool was on his heels for second, crossing the finish in 2:07.6. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Cool, Dawson Mason, Trey Connell and Logan Recoy took the silver medal in the event with a time of 8:59.1. Cool also nabbed silver with a personal record jump of 11 feet, 6 inches in the pole vault.

The South Loup track teams are back in action on April 14 at the Burwell Invitational at Burwell High School, beginning at 10 a.m.
