Marge Mason, age 85 of Broken Bow, passed away Nov. 7, 2023, at the Jennie M Melham Memorial Medical Center in Broken Bow.

Funeral services will be Friday, Nov. 10, at 10:30 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow with the Rev. Dean Haidle officiating. Burial will follow in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Callaway. Memorials are suggested to the Custer County Foundation. A visitation will take place on Thursday, Nov. 9 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. with family greeting friends from 5-7 p.m. at Govier Brothers Mortuary in Broken Bow. Marjorie “Marge” Louise Mason was born Feb. 22, 1938, in Callaway, to Douglas and Mabel (Morrison) Wise. Marge grew up in the Callaway area attending Sunny Side Grade School and graduating from Callaway High School in 1955. 

On Jan. 3, 1957, Marge was united in marriage to Marvin Mason. The couple lived in San Diego, California for six years, as Marvin worked for Rohr Aircraft. They then moved to Seattle, Washington for a year before returning to Broken Bow. Marge started working at Holcomb’s Pharmacy, before going to work at the Custer County Court House from 1982 to 2007, and served as the Custer County Clerk from 1999 through 2003.

Marge liked her horses and her cats, and enjoyed reading a lot. She enjoyed watching the deer and other animals. Marge loved her family and enjoyed watching her kid’s sports activities. She liked to watch volleyball, especially the Huskers.

Marge is survived by two sons, Brett (Lisa) Mason of Bertrand and Terry Mason of Callaway; grandson, Bryce (Storm) Mason; granddaughter, Allison (Cole) Gibbins of Sidney; and two great-granddaughters, Stella and Rooney Mason of Kearney.

Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marvin; and a son, Dennis.
