Sherill Joyce Neben, 87 of Lexington, passed away on Sunday, July 19, 2026, at the Callaway District Hospital. She was born on Aug. 22, 1938, in Eddyville, to Francis and Opal (Chandler) Kennicutt.

She spent her early years in Eddyville, where she attended school. After graduating from Eddyville, she attended beauty college in Grand Island, pursuing her dream and earning her credentials as a hairstylist. On Aug. 25 ,1957, Sherill was united in marriage to Ron Neben. Three children were blessed to this union: Tammy, Terri, and Mike.

Her professional journey spanned nearly five decades as a hairstylist, retiring in 2009. She owned two salons in Eddyville and Buffalo before managing two more in Lexington. Eventually, Sherill established the Village Court Salon in Lexington, further demonstrating her unwavering work ethic and commitment to excellence. She lived in Lexington, moved to Eddyville for several years, spent a brief period in California, and ultimately made her permanent home in Lexington.

Sherill’s devotion extended beyond her career into every facet of her personal life. She was an integral member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington; Sherill was devoted to serving her faith community.

She sang in the choir, participated in countless Easter pageants - often working behind the scenes with costumes, hair, and makeup - and contributed to Wednesday meals. She oftentimes sang for weddings and funerals over the years as well. Sherill was a dedicated fan of Husker sports and loved cheering on the Chicago Cubs.

She is survived by her loving children, Tammy (Greg) Johnson of Oconto, and Mike (Robyn) Neben of Valley; grandchildren, Marci (Mike) McNulty of LaVernia, Texas, Jason Vig of Holdrege, Kim (Mindy) Ryan of Kearney, Blake (Amber) Neben of Lincoln, Seth (Anna) Neben of Gretna, and Lauren Neben of Omaha; great-grandchildren, Isla, Henry, Quinn, Wells, Tatum, Kendyl, Dylan, and Chloe; as well as extended family and many friends.

Sherill was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Opal Kennicutt; her beloved husband, Ron Neben; daughter, Terri Knott; and grandson, Matt Johnson.

A memorial service will be held on Monday, Aug. 3, at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lexington with Pastor Rob Kuefner officiating. A luncheon will follow the service at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial will be held at Buffalo Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lexington following the meal. Memorials are kindly suggested to the family for later designation.
