Kevin Douglas Fahnholz, 49, of Lake Worth, Florida, was unexpectedly taken from this world on May 13, 2022, due to a tragic auto accident. Kevin was born on Oct. 31, 1972, and raised in North Platte.

Upon graduating from North Platte High School in 1991, he joined the U.S. Navy where he served on the USS Theodore Roosevelt and USS Kittyhawk aircraft carriers and various military bases before being honorably discharged in 2001. Kevin moved to Aurora, Illinois, where he married the love of his life, Kimberly Flaherty-Bartell in 2003. He later moved to Oswego, Illinois, where he resided with his family until 2019, followed by a move to Florida.

Kevin was born to be a father and cherished every single moment with his five children. He made it a priority to attend every life event humanly possible for them. He was the definition of a supportive father which was clearly evident by his t-shirt, hat and koozie collections which all proudly displayed his devotion to them. Many of those who encountered Kevin commented that he set the standard for being the perfect husband and father. He made an impact on everyone he came in contact with, and always made it a point to have a special connection with them in some manner. He had a remarkable knack for making people feel important when he was around them.

His other passions in life included the St. Louis Cardinals, Nebraska Cornhusker football, even though they have been brutal for the last several years, Philadelphia Eagles, Chicago Bulls, Disney World, Coors Light and we can't forget Metallica. The world was undoubtedly a better place with him being in it, and the void without him here is immeasurable, but he is now in his heavenly home.

Survivors include wife, Kimberly Fahnholz; children Zach, Christian (Katie) and Josh (Ashlee) Bartell and Paige and Peyton Fahnholz; parents, Darrell (Kay) Fahnholz and Eunice (Byron) Fischer; siblings, Kristy (Curt) Nixon, Kelly (Summer) Fahnholz and Kory (Haley) Fahnholz; four step-siblings; grandmother, Leona Fahnholz; grandchild, Liam Bartell; and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held in the Omaha area on July 2 and in Oswego on July 9 for family and friends to share stories and pay their respects. Please reach out to family members for details.
