of North Platte, passed away July 11, 2025. He was “Ken” to most but “Kenny” to those who knew his ornery

and charming sides. Ken was born to Allyn and Shirley Pierce in Callaway on Jan. 9, 1957. He grew up as a farm boy and was a proud Callaway Bear grad. He enjoyed reminiscing of his defensive prowess in football and basketball. He ran track, competing in the 800 and 1600 – apparently a genetic skill he passed to ‘some’ of his kids.

Ken liked to say that his proudest accomplishment was his four kids: Kendra, Kimberly, Robert and Kyle. He taught them the essential farm skills, how to love dogs and horses, and the appropriate boogie required at the end of a movie while the credits rolled.

Ken is proceeded in death by his son, Kyle Pierce; father R. Allyn Pierce; and brother Rick Pierce.

Ken is survived by his mother, Shirley Pierce of Oconto; siblings, Greg Pierce of Oconto and Sulin Pierce of Englewood, Colorado; children and grandchildren, Kendra (Brett, Wyatt, Harper and Evelyn) Nason of Tryon, Kimberly (Aaron, Joshua, Henry, Charlie and Theodore) Ideus of Emporia, Kansas, and Robert (Amanda and Violet) Pierce of Minden; and nieces and nephews.

Ken will be buried at Lodi Valley Cemetery in the Lodi Valley that he adored and where he spent most of his years. A memorial service will be held at Govier Brother’s Mortuary in Broken Bow on Saturday, July 19, at 3:00 p.m. A reception will follow the service. The family will then travel to the cemetery for the burial.

Written by Kimberly Ideus (not a receiver of the running genetics but happily ready to boogie in memory of dad).
