Janice Jorgenson,
83, of Gothenburg, peacefully passed away at Hilltop Estates, surrounded by her loving family on Aug. 11, 2024.
She was born in Holdrege, on Sept. 6, 1940, to her parents Harlan and Velda Welch.
Janice's journey in life was filled with profound experiences and meaningful connections. She attended District 29, south of Cozad, and graduated from Cozad High School with the class of 1958. Janice embarked on her professional career at Paulsen Building and Supply after high school. Janice's most important and rewarding job was being a full-time mother and farm wife. When her children got older, she transitioned to working at Parker Hannifin.
On March 5, 1961, at Cozad Parkview Methodist Church, Janice exchanged vows with the love of her life, Gary Jorgenson, their union was blessed with five children: Robert, Barbara, Bradly, Brent, and Bryce. Janice's devotion to her family was immeasurable, and her legacy will forever live on through her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She cherished the relationships she cultivated throughout her life, including her involvement with the Etna/New Hope and Rock Island Extension Clubs, and her active participation in the DORCUS Society in the New Hope community, and at Cornerstone Bible Church, where she
shared her musical talents by playing the organ for many years.
Janice is survived by her husband Gary, children, Robert (Jill), Bradly (Elizabeth), Brent (Carie), Bryce (Becky), 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and two more on the way. Two brothers, Jerry Welch, and Joe (Rose) Welch, two brothers-in-law, Charles (Cindy) Jorgenson and Neil (Suzie) Jorgenson; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Harlan and Velda, and her daughter Barbara Nelson, sister-in-law Pat Welch, and brother-in-law Richard (Molly) Jorgenson. Visitation will be held at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, on Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 1- 7 pm with the family present from 4 to 6 pm. Funeral services will be held at Cornerstone Bible Church, 1721 Lake Ave, Gothenburg, on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 10:30 am, with Pastor Scott Newman officiating. A burial will follow in the Gothenburg Cemetery.

Janice will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
