DeWayne L. Thorell, 85, formerly of Ashland, passed away on April 17, 2024, in Lincoln. DeWayne was born in Holdrege to Raymond and Ruth (Burklund) Thorell on Oct. 11, 1938. He spent his life as an educator for many years including 25 in Ashland, five in Callaway, and two in Huntley. He served in the US Army from 1956-1958.

Family members include his wife Alice of 63 years; son, Corey (Ronilynn) Thorell of Belton, Texas; daughter, Lori Thorell of Bangkok, Thailand; nine grandchildren; siblings Norma Mills, of Lincoln, Rook Thorell of Loomis, Elaine Westergren, of Omaha, and Marlene McClean of Fremont.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Todd Thorell; and brothers Wendell and Don.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 26, at the First Christian Church in Ashland with Pastor Bob Schofield officiating. Memorials may be given to Domesti- Pups. Condolences may be left online at roperandsons.com
