Editor’s Note: Each CHS senior is doing a career presentation, in which they share their future plans and life goals - a requirement for the Senior College Prep class. The seniors then give the presentation to the entire student body. We want to spotlight our CHS seniors by sharing their future plans with you.

Nadeema Haidle began her career presentation by sharing about her family. “There are five of us currently living in my house. My parents and my younger siblings and I. My two older siblings Kelsey and Brett are both married to wonderful people and they each have two children of their own. This leaves me the proud aunt of three adorable nephews and one beautiful niece.”

She then enthusiastically dove into her plans for the future. Her goal is to attend Cedarville University in Cedarville, Ohio. She admits that will be a big transition for her, as the university is 17 hours from her Callaway home. However, she said there are several factors that weighed on her decision to choose that college.

First, it is a private Christian university on a beautiful campus with new facilities. That appealed to Nadeema and her parents. The campus is located near three major cities; Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati. However, the enrollment is not large, with a student body of about 5,000.

“It would be a completely new experience as I have never been to Ohio before, though I plan on visiting next month,” said Nadeema.

The university has a wide range of activities to offer students, with more than 90 clubs and organizations from volunteering to karaoke. “I would be interested in joining their concert band and a volunteer organization,” Nadeema added.

She said if she does work while attending college, she will look for a job either on campus or in the town of Cedarville. She will live on campus, and is excited about the amenities offered there. “They have beautiful dorms with lots of space, and free laundry services. I would just have to supply the detergent,” said Nadeema.

When it comes to a roommate, Nadeema shared that she is considering using an app called RoomSync. She described it as being similar to a dating app, but is used to match students with an ideal roommate. “But since I’m an adventurous person, I might just have it be a surprise,” she added.

Nadeema plans to major in English, and possibly add a minor in creative writing. She expects to graduate with her bachelor’s degree in four years; however, she is also considering possibly taking an accelerated course which would allow her to complete her master’s degree in five years.

She shared three potential career paths she is considering once she completes her education; English teacher, author and copywriter. No matter which path she chooses, Nadeema said her time at Callaway Public Schools has helped prepare her for the next steps in life.

“Callaway has also taught me how to work well with others and the small community atmosphere has made me extremely grateful to those who take the time to stop in the hall and say hello,” she said.

The piece of advice that Nadeema wishes to leave her peers with is a quote from Charles Dickens: “Procrastination is the thief of time. Collar him.”
