Lady Bobcats See Ups And Downs, But Press On
The Lady Bobcats basketball team is full of resiliency and determination to improve - it’s easy to see when you look at game stats each week. But watching them in action showcases that drive even more.
Despite losing to Hershey last Monday, they were determined to adjust their game and prove to themselves they could bounce back and win the next two games - so they did.
Last Monday, the Hershey Lady Panthers outshot the Lady Bobcats at every turn - and the scoreboard reflected that. By the end of play, the Lady Panthers had beat the Lady Bobcats 32-56.
Bryn Schwarz was the top scorer for the Lady Bobcats with 11 points, followed by Ava Pandorf with 9 points. Schwarz also was the top rebounder with 12 total.
Making adjustments to their shooting brought the Lady Bobcats success on Friday as they hosted Maxwell in Callaway, beating them for a second time this season, 52-30. The Lady Bobcats started off slow in the first quarter, only scoring 10 points to the Wildcat’s 14 points. But the defense kicked into high gear, preventing Maxwell from scoring and ended the half 26-16.
The Lady Bobcats kept the pressure on during the second half of the game, and by the end of the third quarter, the score was 45-26.
The Lady Bobcats’ resilience also can be seen during game-time decisions and the ability to make adjustments on the fly, as they did against Brady at Arnold on Saturday.
In the first quarter of play, the Lady Bobcats were missing critical rebounds, allowing Brady to come within 1 point, 8-7. After some physical and mental adjustments, South Loup started picking up more rebounds and by the end of the half, the score was 21-13. The defense stayed steadfast, allowing Brady to only score a single point in the third quarter, while the offense was on fire, scoring 18 points. The Lady Bobcats cruised on to victory by a final score of 46-24.
Individual player stats were not available by press time.
The Lady Bobcats will host Ansley Litchfield at Arnold on Thursday, then head into the MNAC tournament on Saturday. Watch the school’s Facebook page for detailed brackets and information.
