Even Mother Nature couldn’t stop the Lady Bobcats basketball team (5-4) from extending their winning streak this week with wins at home over Sandhills/ Thedford on Thursday and Bertrand on Saturday.

The Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Knights in Arnold on Thursday, 29-19. The defense was strong early on, preventing the Knights from scoring a single point in the first quarter, to end with a score of 8-0. The Lady Knights adjusted their strategy and got on the board during the second quarter, but the Lady Bobcats continued to outscore them. The first half ended with a score of 18-7.

The third quarter was a tad rocky for the Lady Bobcats, allowing Sandhills/Thedford to score 6 more points, but still were ahead at the end of the third 2113. Another 8 points added by the Lady Bobcats ended the game at 29-19.

Leading in scoring was junior Bryn Schwarz with 11 points, including 6 of 8 free-throws made. Seniors Taylor Ross and Ava Pandorf each added 6 points to the board.

Ross grabbed 13 rebounds, along with Schwarz and Abby Stallbaumer with 5 rebounds each.

Saturday the Lady Bobcats hosted Bertrand at Callaway and outscored the Vikings in every quarter - 15-9, 11-8, 6-5, and 15-12. Three Lady Bobcats scored double-digit points - Pandorf with 15, and Schwarz and Ross with 11 each. Pandorf and Schwarz each hit multiple 3-pointers.

Ross led with 6 rebounds, followed by Stallbaumer with 4, and Lauryn Johnson with 3.

The Lady Bobcats faced the Hershey Panthers on Monday, but scores were not available by press time.

South Loup will host Maxwell on Friday in Callaway. The girls JV starts at 4 p.m. and varsity starts at 6 p.m.

On Saturday, the action starts at 2 p.m. in Arnold versus the Brady Eagles. JV will play first, followed by varsity at 4 p.m.
