Ruth Edna Carlson
Ruth Edna Carlson, 95 of Gothenburg, died Oct. 16, 2022, at her home. Ruth was born June 25, 1927, to Albert and Martha (Yeutter) Schurr.
Ruth was raised on a farm near Eustis with siblings, Lloyd, Erma and younger brother Orville. Ruth graduated from Lexington High School and attended teachers training passing all 1F teachers exams and Kearney summer classes. Ruth taught school at District 38 by Lexington for six years then went to District 22. Ruth met a handsome young man at Rural Youth Activities named Wallace Carlson. Wallace and Ruth were united in marriage Dec. 21, 1952. To this union four children were born: Lee, Kathryn, Keith and Marian. Wallace and Ruth raised their family on the farm north of Gothenburg and attended the New Hope Church where the gospel was preached, and both accepted the Lord as their Savior. Ruth was also a member of Cornerstone Bible Church.
Ruth was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. She also enjoyed baking sweets, puttering around outside, her kitty 'Beanie' and spending time with family, especially the grandkids and great-grandkids.
Survivors include children, Lee (Charlotte) Carlson of Gothenburg, Kathryn (John) Jarvis of King, North Carolina; Keith (Jodi) Carlson of Gothenburg, Marian (Kent) Kline of Gothenburg; brother, Orville Schurr of San Marcos, California; 15 grandchildren, Jessica (Chris) Bailey, Justin (Andrea) Carlson, Jonathan Carlson, James (Taylan) Carlson, Tammy (Matt) Gfeller, Rebecca (Jesse) Riddell, Jesse Jarvis, John W. Jarvis, Austin (Bailey) Jarvis, Jailyn (Justin) Strasburg, Jordan (Liz) Carlson, Joelle (Peter) Hargadine, Jeremiah (Mary-Anne) Kline, Shannon (Jesse) Labenz, Haley (Andrew) Cowan; 36 great-grandchildren, Paxton, Keiston, Ashton Bailey, Kaden, Aliyah, Breckon Carlson, Jayden, Jaxson, Jarett, Jakobe Carlson, Amaiya, Adalyn, Audric, Addax Carlson, Eden Gfeller, Carson, Cora Lawrence, Jude Riddell, Levi, Raegan Jarvis, Piper, Parker Strasburg, Lainy, Gideon, Claire, Jude Carlson, Ethan, Andrea, Jensen, Maggie Kline, Ella, Kendrik, Asher, Cole Labenz, Cecilia, Graham Cowan; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Martha Schurr; husband, Wallace; inlaws, Lloyd and Minnie (Bressler) Carlson; brother, Lloyd Schurr; sister, Erma Ray; sisters-in-law, Lorene Schurr, Claribel (Carlson) Crews, Janey (Carlson) Peterson; brothers-in-law, Wilber Ray, Gene Peterson, James Crews; nieces, Sharon (Ray) Schutz and Mary Crews; nephew, Clay Crews; and great-granddaughter, Juliet Strasburg.
