After shaking off the funk of a twogame losing streak, the Lady Bobcats volleyball team (12-5) found themselves back on top last Tuesday during a home triangular against Sandhills Valley and Twin Loup.

The Bobcats were more effective at the net during the first game against the Mavericks of Sandhills Valley (Stapleton/McPherson County), winning both games 25-19 and 25-18. The Lady Bobcats blocked the ball 15 times and dished up 22 kills. Bryn Schwarz led the Bobcats with 6 blocks and 7 kills, followed by Charli Vickers with 5 blocks, and Abby Stallbaumer with 3 blocks and 6 kills.

Talli Martin, who is finding her footing as libero, had 15 digs and 15 serve receives. Ava Pandorf had 17 set assists and led in serve attempts with 10 over the net, including one ace.

The second game against Twin Loup was lopsided the first set, with the Bobcats winning 25-13, but the Wolves rallied back to win the second set 21-25. The Lady Bobcats dug deep to pull out a 25-22 win in set three.

The Wolves were strong on offense at the net with 34 kills, but the Bobcats were on top of things with 37 kills. Stallbaumer had a season-high 10 kills, followed by Lauryn Johnson with 8 kills, also a season-high.

The Lady Bobcats defended the net efficiently with Stallbaumer returning 13 of the team’s 18 blocks. This was also a season-high number of blocks for the senior.

Johnson and Martin both lobbed up 17 serves against Twin Loup with one error for each. Johnson had one service ace, Martin following with two aces.

Senior Ava Pandorf tallied her 1,100th career dig during this game, prompting a crowd celebration.

The South Loup JV traveled to North Platte last Monday for the Mid-Plains Community College non-varsity tournament. The Lady Bobcats went 1-1 on the night, winning over Hershey 2-0 but falling to Sutherland 1-2.

At the home triangular Thursday, the JV and Reserve teams competed at the Callaway Community Center. The Bobcat Reserve team beat Sandhills Valley 2-1 and the JV team beat Twin Loup 2-0.

The Bobcats traveled to Cambridge on Tuesday for a triangular with Maxwell and Cambridge. Scores were not immediately available. They travel to Southern Valley on Thursday with JV play beginning at 6 p.m., followed by the varsity game.

On Saturday, the teams will split up with the varsity traveling to Loup City for Arcadia-Loup City tournament beginning at 10 a.m. and the JV trekking to Litchfield for a round robin tournament beginning at 9 a.m.
