Nona Leibhart
Nona Leibhart passed away at her home in North Platte surrounded by her family on Sept. 4, 2022, at the age of 93.
Nona, the daughter of Floyd and Lucy Peterson, was born June 27, 1929, on the family farm, southeast of Arnold. She grew up on the farm and attended country school then worked as a waitress in Arnold.
On Feb. 10, 1947, Nona married Lloyd Leibhart at Smith Center. The couple settled on a ranch eight miles southwest of Callaway, raised two children, and lived on Red Wing Ranch for 43 years.
Nona was a member of HHH Club and the American Legion Auxiliary in Callaway. In 1989, Nona and Lloyd moved to North Platte.
They were married for 43 years when he passed away in 1990.
When Lloyd and Nona were younger they enjoyed dancing together.
Nona also enjoyed bowling, was a coin collector, and especially enjoyed dressing up and looking pretty!
She was an amazing seamstress who made clothes for her kids and beautiful quilts for family and many of her friends. Nona said the happiest times were when she sat peddlin' away at her sewing machine.
When she was young church was important, and as she got older praying was important, but it was family that was always most important to her. Nona wants to be remembered for the love she has for her family. She leaves behind her daughter, Lourall Strasburg of Loveland, Colorado; grandchildren, Jennifer, Wendy, Crystal, Desiree and Alisha; three step-grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; her sisters, Betty (Norman) Schuster of Phillips, Jane Wilkins of Omaha, Kay (Niel) Nielsen of North Platte and Sheila (Dennis) Malcom of Callaway; brothers, Kenny (Marge) Peterson of Bertrand and Jay (Jeannie) Peterson of Arnold; and many other family members.
Along with her husband, Lloyd, Nona was preceded in death by their son and daughter-in-law, Johnnie and Rita Leibhart; son-in-law, Mitchell Strasburg; her brothers, Don, Jerry, LorenDee and Jimmy Peterson; sisters, Violet Hankins and Lela Bacon; her parents; and a step granddaughter.
