Bobcats Compete in Large Invite And Prepare For Districts

The South Loup JV men’s golf team competed in Thedford on Wednesday, May 6, with six schools represented at the meet. The Bobcats were joined by Broken Bow, Hershey, Mullen, North Central, Sandhills/Thedford, and Valentine.

Thurston Ravenscroft and Trevor Two Strike, both of Valentine, tied for the low round of the day with 41 on the 9 holes.

South Loup was represented by two golfers at the meet. Asher Evans finished the day with a 52, while Piper Strasburg came in with 58.

The varsity team was in action on Thursday, May 7, as they traveled to North Platte St. Pat’s for a large invitational that featured 19 teams. Hitchcock County won the team title by just one stroke over North Platte JV Blue with a team total of 336. The Bobcats shot 385 as a team.

The low individual round of 74 was shot by Landon Shepherd of North Platte St. Pat’s.

The Bobcats were led by Haydn Stretesky who carded a 45 on the first 9, and 42 on the back end for a total of 87. Next was Crew Witthuhn with 52 and 42 for 94, and Dawson Downing with 49 and 50 for 99.

Callan Witthuhn came through the front 9 with 55 strokes while shooting 50 in the back for a 105 total, and Kyson Stretesky shot 57 and 52 to finish with 109.

The only meet for the Bobcats this week was on Wednesday, May 13, at Mullen. The district meet will be held on Monday, May 18, at a location yet to be announced.
