Doris Hendricks, age 94
of Broken Bow, passed away on Oct. 19, 2025, at Brookestone View in Broken Bow.
Memorial services will be held on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 11 a.m. at Govier Brothers Chapel in Broken Bow. Burial will be in the Broken Bow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation. A register book may be signed at Govier Brothers Mortuary. Govier Brothers Mortuary is in charge of arrangements. Online words of remembrance or condolences may be left at www. govierbrothers.com Doris Emma Hendricks was born on Oct. 24, 1930, to L.D. “Dewey” and Irma (Huenefeld) Fochtman. She graduated from Callaway High School in the Class of 1947. Doris married Walter R. Hendricks on May 6, 1949, and together they raised two sons.
Doris was a farm wife of the ‘50’s: raising big gardens and canning the produce; raising and cleaning chickens and fixing meals for harvest crews. Doris was a good cook and pies were a specialty. She was always asked to bring pies to all family dinners. Coconut cream pie was a favorite.
Doris is survived by her sons, Billy (Vicki) Hendricks of Broken Bow, and Jimmie (Kathy) Hendricks of Gothenburg: grandchildren, Wendy (Lonnie) Fink, Jeremy (Linzy) Hendricks, and Cody (Aaron) Stubbe; great-grandchildren, Danielle (Austin) Tien, Dakota Slack, Jaysa (Hunter) Ewing, Brady Hendricks, Jocelyn Hendricks, Ava, Ella, and Nora Stubbe; great-greatgrandson, Greyson Ewing; brother-in-law, Richard Hendricks; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband brother, Wilfred (Barbara) Fochtman; sisters, Lois (Don) Oman, Rosalie (Jim) Thomas, and Shirley (Gilbert) Rieker; her first husband, Gerald Booker; brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Ruth) Hendricks, Orin (Della) Hendricks; and sister-in-law, Joyce Hendricks.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the entire staff at Brookestone View for their kindness, compassion, and support in caring for Doris.
