South Loup Takes a Loss at Pleasanton
Coming off a 28-0 shutout against West Holt, the South Loup Bobcats suffered a loss last Thursday against the Pleasanton Bulldogs, bringing their record to 2-4. The Bobcats fought through all four quarters, but ended up short in the game, with a final score of 58-36, Bulldogs.
The Bobcats battled hard in the first half, putting up a touchdown and 2pt conversion in each quarter, but fell behind the Bulldogs as they racked up 29 points comparatively. After scoring twice in the third to try to close the gap, South Loup fell back to just one score in the fourth. Pleasanton took advantage of their offensive momentum, putting up an additional 29 points in the second half to clinch the win.
The Bobcats did their best work on the ground against the Bulldogs, as Conner Paulsen rushed for a whopping 275 yards on 34 carries, putting up three scores in the process. Crew Witthuhn added 63 yards rushing and one TD, and Dylan Pandorf finished the night with 28 yards on 8 carries and found the endzone once. Pandorf threw for just 9 yards, connecting on 2 out of 6 attempts with 1 interception.
Paulsen also led on the defensive side, racking up 8 solo tackles and 6 assists, while Paxton Bierman chalked up 7 solos and 5 assists. Sophomore Tysen Schacher put up one interception for 14 yards.
The Bobcats return to the gridiron to host the 6-0 Ravenna Bluejays on Friday, Oct. 10, with a kickoff at 7 p.m.
