It was a busy, and disappointing week for the Lady Bobcats volleyball team as they competed in a triangular in Merna on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and a tournament in Sutherland on Saturday, Sept. 27. Despite a great effort, unfortunately, South Loup was not able to quite get a win.

The first game on Tuesday pitted the Lady Bobcats against the host team Anselmo-Merna, who won in straight sets 25-14, and 25-16. Emma Stallbaumer got two kills in the game, while Gracie Brennan, Nyachay Haidle, and Aubrie Birkel each notched one kill against the Coyotes. Olivia Fitzgerald contributed two ace serves, and Brennan had one.

The Bobcats’ other game in the triangular was against Elm Creek, as the Buffaloes won in straight sets, 25-13, 25-14. Haidle led the team offensively with three kills, while Brennan and Stallbaumer each had two kills, and Fitzgerald had one. Haidle, Stallbaumer, and Birkel were also each credited with a block on the Buffaloes.

The Bobcats played three games at the Sutherland Invite, with the first being against North Platte St.

Pat’s. The Irish took the win 25-16, 25-10. Kamryn Kramer led the Bobcats' attack with four kills, while Brennan, Fitzgerald, and Birkel each had two kills, and Stallbaumer notched one. Kramer, Rae Hagler, and Birkel also each had a block.

Their next opponent was a tough Overton team, who dominated South Loup in set one to win 25-8. But the Bobcats fought back to keep things interesting in the second, dropping the set 19-25.

Kramer scored three kills against the Eagles, while Brennan and Stallbaumer each had two, and Fitzgerald one. Hagler and Stallbaumer each got a block on the Eagles.

The final game of the tournament against the host team, Sutherland, proved to be the best game for the Bobcats. They narrowly missed getting the win in the first set, 21-25, but bounced back in set two to finally get a win, 25-21. However, they weren’t quite able to keep the momentum going into set three, as the Sailors came out on top 25-14.

Stallbaumer had a fantastic game at the net for the Bobcats, with 11 kills. She also had an ace serve and a shot block. Fitzgerald added seven kills and three service aces. Brennan and Kramer each had three kills in the game, and each added an ace serve, as did Hagler.

The team was back on the court on Tuesday, Sept.

30, as they hosted Ansley-Litchfield in Callaway. Today, Oct. 2, the Bobcats host a triangular in Arnold with Sandhills Valley and Twin Loup. Matches get underway at 5 p.m.
