Last week was a busy one for the South Loup boys’ golf team. They traveled to Thedford on Monday, then were at home on Thursday, May 1, for the MNAC tournament, and finished out the week on Friday, May 2 at Overton.

After shooting an 87 to finish in 6th place at the Sandhills-Thedford tournament, Harper Johnson was able to better his score by two strokes at the conference meet. His 85 earned him the 4th place medal.

Meanwhile, Bo Brennan drastically improved his score from Monday to Thursday. After finishing with 107 at Thedford, Brennan had a good day on the course at Arnold to card a 95 and earn the 7th place conference medal.

No other results from the MNAC meet were available.

On Friday South Loup was one of 13 teams to compete in the Overton Invite. As a team the Bobcats finished in 8th place overall, with a 381 total. Amherst was the invite champion with 326, followed by Overton and Hi-Line.

The low individual score of the day was shot by Cope Smith of Amherst with 74. Harper Johnson once again led the Bobcats, shooting 91 to finish in 26th place overall. Haydn Stretesky was not far behind, carding a 94 on the day for 33rd place.

Jamie Tickle was just one stroke behind his teammate with 9, good for 36th place overall. Bo Brennan shot a 101, and Crew Witthuhn rounded out the team with 103.
