Bobcat Golfers Have Good Day in Broken Bow
The South Loup boys’ golf team competed at the Anselmo-Merna 9-hole quad tournament on Tuesday, April 15, held at the Broken Bow Country Club. The low team score of the day was shot by the Broken Bow JV team, with the South Loup varsity team finishing with a total of 212.
The low individual score of the day was carded by Broken Bow’s Caedmon Jensen who shot a 42.
For the Bobcats, Harper Johnson led the way with 50 strokes. All of the South Loup golfers were close in scoring, with only nine strokes separating the five spots.
Haydn Stretesky shot a 51, and Jamie Tickle a 53. Rounding out the team scoring were Crew Witthuhn with 58, and Bo Brennan with 59.
Two Bobcat JV golfers also competed. Callan Witthuhn ended his nine holes with 59 strokes, and Asher Evans finished with 69.
On Thursday, April 17, the team traveled to Hershey to compete in a tough 11-team tournament. Perkins County claimed the top team spot with a total of 319 strokes. South Loup ended the day shooting 405 as a team.
Unfortunately, none of the Bobcat golfers finished in the top 20 individually, though Haydn Stretesky did not miss it by much. He carded a 47 on the front nine and 44 on the back nine to finish with 91 to lead the team. Harper Johnson had a 49 and 46 for a 95 total score.
Bo Brennan shot 54 on both the front and back nine for a 108, while Crew Witthuhn finished with 111, and Jamie Tickle was right behind him with 112.
The team is back on the course today at Sandhills- Thedford. The JV team will host a triangular in Arnold on Monday, April 28, with play beginning at 3:30 p.m. The next meet for the varsity team will be the MNAC tournament on Thursday, May 1, at Sandhills Valley. Tee time is set for 10 a.m.
