The South Loup boys’ golf team kicked off the 2025 season on Monday, March 31, after the Sandhills Valley meet at Stapleton was rescheduled due to State FFA. That meet was originally set for Thursday, April 3, with the South Loup JV team planning to compete. However, the change in the date allowed Coach Jeff Cole to take his varsity squad to Stapleton, along with a couple of JV players to tee off the season.

In overall team scores South Loup finished in 4th place with a total of 393. Broken Bow was the meet champions, followed by Mullen, then Valentine. Other teams participating were Sandhills/Thedford, who rounded out the top five, Anselmo-Merna, Hyannis, Sandhills Valley, and Valentine.

Haydn Stretesky was the top individual golfer for the Bobcats, carding a 93 on the day, good for 14th place overall. Mullen’s Ben Werner was the day’s top golfer, shooting a 72, followed closely by Brady Haake of Sandhills/Thedford with 74, and Caedmon Jensen of Broken Bow with 82.

Scores for the remaining varsity Bobcats were very consistent, with Harper Johnson, Jamie Tickle, and Crew Witthuhn all shooting 100, and Bo Brennan rounding out the squad with a 109.

For the JVs, Callan Witthuhn ended the day with a 117.

On Thursday, April 3, the team traveled to Amherst for a varsity meet. Other schools competing at the meet were Kearney Catholic, Amherst, Hershey, Wilcox-Hildreth, Centura, Burwell, and Pleasanton. Kearney Catholic had the low team score of 305, followed by Amherst with 340, and Hershey with 356.
