The Bobcat boys' basketball team claimed victory over Arcadia-Loup City in an intense game led by junior Conner Paulsen on Jan. 21. Paulsen’s 26 points paved the way for the Bobcats to come out with a win over the Rebels, 61-49.

“We played well and came out with the win but also things we need to work on,” said Paulsen. “We need to limit turnovers and keep playing strong defensively.'

Despite the game’s final score, the Bobcats had to push for the lead in the early quarters of the game. The first quarter ended with a score of South Loup 11 to Arcadia-Loup City’s 12.

The second quarter was neck and neck finishing with Paulsen scoring 6 back-toback points to bring the score to 27-25, Bobcats. The boys kept up that momentum throughout the second half of the game to bring the final score to 61-47.

“The boys played extremely well against Arcadia-Loup City,” said Head Coach Jeff Cole. “They played with a lot of energy on the defensive end and had an outstanding second half on that end of the floor. I was also very pleased with the way they took care of the ball and their execution offensively.”

Crew Witthuhn was key to the Bobcats’ success, scoring 15 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
