The Bobcats came off of back-to-back wins to finish out their week in front of the home crowd at Callaway on Saturday, Jan. 11, as they hosted the Bertrand Vikings. South Loup came out strong, seeming to have picked up where they left off in their previous two games. However, the Vikings made it clear they were not going down without a fight.

The first quarter was an offensive battle, with South Loup winning 18-16. But Bertrand’s defense stepped up in the second period, holding the Bobcats to just 6 points while adding 15 of their own to take a 31-24 lead at the half.

The Vikings came out strong in the second half as well, scoring another 20 points in the third while holding the Bobcats to 14. While South Loup fought back hard in the final period, scoring 13 to Bertrand’s 9, it wasn’t quite enough to overcome the deficit as South Loup took a loss 51-60.

Witthuhn once again led the Bobcats with 17 points, and a phenomenal 12 rebounds. Pandorf and Paulsen each contributed 12 points for the Bobcats.

The team will be back in action on Jan. 17 when they host Maxwell in Arnold. Tip-off for the boys' varsity game is set for 7:30.
