On Thurs, Oct. 19, the Lady Bobcats continued MNAC play with their first game at 10 a.m. playing the Arthur County Wolves in Broken Bow. The Bobcats started strong, just strong enough to take the first set as a win. In the second set, everyone was tuckered out, leaving them unable to give forth all their effort, and the Wolves took the win.

In the last set, with parents cheering in the bleachers, and coaches biting their nails on the sideline, the Bobcats put all their effort into this set. Working as a team, and having great communication, the girls won the match 2-1. Finals scores were 25-22, 15-25, and 25-17.

Quoted Assistant Coach Jaycee Anderson, “I’m so proud of how the girls played and worked together as a team to overcome them and take the win.”

In the second game of the day versus Twin Loup the Lady Bobcats came ready to play. Their hopes were high, which played a big part, because the better every girl on that team feels about themselves, the better they will do when they come together to finish it. You have to have help from everyone on the court and good communication to accomplish good things.

The first set was a close one, but the Lady Bobcats pulled ahead and won. One of the highlights of the set was an overpass by Twin Loup which left a perfect shot for front row middle hitter Nyachay Haidle to take a swing and slam the ball down for a kill. South Loup took set one 25-23.

The second set was also a close one, with the Bobcats finally getting the win 25-22. Beating Twin Loup in two sets earned the Lady Bobcats 5th place in the tournament. Anselmo-Merna was the MNAC champions.

“The girls played awesome! All of their hard work paid off with two great wins. The team worked together to win the consolation bracket,” said a proud Head Coach Michelle Preston.
