The Brady Eagles hosted the South Loup Bobcats, Sandhills-Thedford Knights, and Arthur County Wolves for the first round of the MNAC tournament on Thursday, Oct. 17.

The evening started with Sandhills-Thedford playing the Arthur County Wolves. The Knights took the game in three sets of 25-12, 25-23, 25-12. The atmosphere in this game was loud and exciting as they kicked off the tournament.

Next up was South Loup and Brady. “The girls came so close to pulling off a huge upset. I'm excited for the next few weeks to see what these girls can do,” Head Coach Michelle Preston said.

The first set started off strong with the Bobcats and the Eagles trading points back and forth. A game highlight is when senior Greeley Hrupek passed the ball to senior setter Riata Remund for a set to sophomore outside hitter Asa Starr for a deep corner kill.

The Bobcats led the first set up until the end when the Eagles took the last two points, winning the first set 25-23.

The Eagles came out very strong in the second set taking point after point. This set was a struggle for the Bobcats as they couldn't find their groove. The set ended with a score of 25-9.

In the final set, the Bobcats found their groove and came out swinging. Both teams played aggressively at the net again trading points back and forth. The Eagles gained a lead on the Bobcats ending the set at 25-21.

“Thursdays game was exactly what we've all been working for all season. While it may not have been a win on our record, the fight out of every girl showed in every aspect of the game,” senior Riata Remund said.
